Training Description

Well-being and Life Skills Initiative - Fall 2026 Cohort

Length of Training - Eight-part series 2 hours each for all staff (and two-part leadership series 2 hours each for Directors/Activity Leaders only).

This cohort is a "hybrid" learning experience. By registering for this series, you are committing to attending all training sessions both in-person and virtual.

Participants are REQUIRED TO ATTEND ALL TRAININGS in the series and complete two modeling sessions at their program site in addition to implementation assignments in between trainings.

Well-being is fundamental to learning, thriving and succeeding in life. Well-being is cultivated through the strengthening of resiliency and life skills. Studies show that when youth name, notice and reflect on their experiences, thought and emotion processes, behaviors and social interactions in a positive and welcoming environment, they are better equipped to proactively respond to challenging life situations, more ready to learn and better able to perform in educational and work settings.

Prime Time Palm Beach County’s Well-being and Life Skills Initiative is an innovative professional learning opportunity designed to build resiliency and life skills among children and youth in afterschool based on best practices in the field and in alignment with national and state health and resiliency standards.  This new initiative is focused on building an afterschool climate and culture whereby youth thrive physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially, succeed in academic and extracurricular endeavors, build more positive and productive relationships, and engage in acts of kindness and service to others.  Participants journey through practices and inquiry to deepen their socio-emotional resilience, improve their work and personal relationships and better respond to the demands of being an out-of-school time professional.

What each participant will gain from the series:

  • Personalized coaching and modeling in supporting youth resiliency and behavior needs
  • Tools for self-care, personal development and emotional intelligence at work
  • Lesson plan support to facilitate Afternoon Meeting well-being circles with youth
  • Curriculum materials with well-being activities and mindful games
  • Up to 2.4 CEUs upon successful completion of the trainings and assignments
  • Up to $255 in training attendance incentives for the series ($15 per hour of training)
  • A completion stipend of an additional $150 for meeting all graduation requirements
